Remove Skunk Odor!

If your dog or cat has been skunked there is only 1 thing on your mind,

"How do I get rid of that nasty skunk smell"?

There are a lot of myths about how to get rid of skunk spray and skunk odor - But keep in mind when removing skunk spray (and of course the odor) from your pet, it is always best to use a method that is tried, true and safe for your dog or cat. Here are 2 good methods:

Skunk Odor Removal Method 1

Gather:
Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda, Dish Detergent (Dawn), Bucket, Gloves.
If you don't already have them on hand, you can pick up baking soda, dawn and hydrogen peroxide at your local grocer or drug store for under $5.00.

Mix:
When you are ready to wash your pet, Mix 1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup of baking soda and one teaspoon of liquid dish detergent (dawn works great because it is a degreaser) in a bucket. Mix outdoors or in a very well ventilated area.

Important:
*Do not* pre-mix these ingredients; *Do not* store these ingredients.

Bath:
Go outdoors or into a very ventilated area and bath your skunked dog or cat in this solution - saturating the fur. Let it stay on your pet for 5-10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water. Repeat if necessary.

Skunk Odor Removal Method 2

We have used this method for Maggie (our labrador retriever who is obviously prone to skunking!) multiple times. It is really easy and it has worked great for us.

Gather:
Oxi Clean, Water, Bucket, Gloves
You can find Oxi Clean at your local grocer or a general merchandise store like Wal Mart.

Mix:
3 scoops of Oxi Clean in a bucket of water.

Bath:
Wash your skunked pet in this solution - saturating the fur. Let it stay on your pet for 5-10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water. Repeat if necessary.
